Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is finally giving fans a deeper look into her breakup with NBA star Klay Thompson, and it sounds like the relationship took more out of her than we may have realized.

The couple's relationship ended in April 2026, after a year together. In her intial breakup announcement, Megan stated "trust, fidelity and respect were non-negotiable and that those values had been compromised."

In her new InStyle interview, Megan described the breakup as “very rough” and admitted that she felt like she was losing herself while trying to make the relationship work.

She reflected that if a relationship constantly leaves you feeling uncomfortable or “on edge,” it may be a sign that you aren't supposed to be there. Megan said she realized she had been trying to fit herself into someone else's life instead of remaining true to who she was.

Megan made it VERY clear that she isn't looking to shrink herself for a man.

She says she wants a relationship where she and her partner are equals. Her career, music, fans and independence aren't things she's willing to sacrifice. She also emphasized that she refuses to be minimized or placed behind a man.

And apparently, being single isn't bothering her either.

Megan says she's been happier and enjoying her own company since the breakup. She's also credited therapy and self-reflection with helping her process what happened and understand how she wants to move forward.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview is that Megan doesn't seem to be blaming herself for what happened.

She acknowledged that being cheated on can make someone question their worth “Why me?” or “Why am I not enough?” but she has come to understand that someone else's decision to cheat isn't a reflection of her value.
