What was meant to be a night of love and celebration turned into tragedy this past Saturday when a mass shooting erupted during a wedding reception at the Sky Meadow Country Club in New Hampshire.

Around 9:30 p.m., the shooter entered the reception hall and opened fire, leaving one man dead and two others with gunshot wounds, while several more guests sustained non-gun-related injuries in the chaos. One guest later recalled that, at first, he thought the sounds were balloons popping—until the horrifying realization that it was gunfire.

When police arrived, there was initial confusion about whether there were multiple shooters. Witness accounts raised the possibility, but building surveillance confirmed a single gunman, later identified as 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau, a former employee of the country club. He was arrested later that evening.

Among the victims was 59-year-old Steven DeCesare, who tragically died at the scene. He was at the country club resturant with his wife and daughter when the shots rang out. His daughter is set to be married in a couple of weeks and sadly her father won't walk her down the isle.

An employee of the venue was also critically injured and airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Other guests who suffered gunshot wounds are expected to make a full recovery, though their names have not been released.

Nadeau has been charged with second-degree murder, and officials say additional charges may follow. He is scheduled to be arraigned this Monday.
